Design completed, based on 0.8m diameter stone columns at 1.9m spacing, with an ‘Area Replacement Ratio’ of 16%.
Ground improvement to 7m below ground level.
Construction pending.
 

 

Ground improvement was adopted for this high-spec two-storey residential dwelling to reduce predicted earthquake vertical settlement to within TC2 category limits. Weak soils combined with discrete layers of liquefiable soils required stone column ground treatment to 7 m to reduce potential differential settlement damage to the large ground floor area during moderate to strong earthquake shaking.
